Charlton Athletic Football Programmes

Charlton became a professional club in 1920 and joined the football league a year later. They were formed in 1905 and their development into a professional club came about when their illustrious neighbours and one of the English top clubs moved in 1923 from South East London to North London, the club being Woolwich Arsenal.

They have spent several periods in the top flight of English football. In the 1940's they got to the FA Cup Final twice, winning it once. Unusually in both of their finals the ball burst. Programmes from these finals are fairly easily to purchase and are invariably shown in our lists below.

Charlton Athletic football programmes are a popular choice for many a collector with a couple of hundred available at any given time. The Programmes for the two FA Cup finals that they appeared usually sell for about £150 and occasionally programmes from earlier league matches come up, not so long ago a 1926/27 league match against Brentford was sold for £150.
